Colombian Mud Bath, Cartagena, Colombia

Volcan de Lodo El Totumo, near Cartagena, Colombia, is a 15-metre volcano that spews mud instead of lava and ash. Local legend claims that a priest regularly sprinkled holy water onto the volcano (convinced the devil resided within), and his actions extinguished the fire and turned the inside of the volcano into mud, thus drowning the devil.

The crater is filled with lukewarm creamy mud that is rich in minerals.
